Tips for your date

A first meeting is exciting, at a blind date as much as at a group dinner. Here are a few thoughts so the evening is pleasant for you both.

Preparation

  • Plan your journey with some time to spare, so you arrive relaxed. The name the table is booked under is in your email. Just ask at the restaurant.
  • Wear what you feel comfortable in. You don't have to impress anyone, just be yourself.
  • Read your date's three sentences again. They often hold your first question.
  • If you can't make it after all, please cancel in your account as early as possible. Someone is looking forward to seeing you.
  • Tell a friend where and when you're meeting.
  • Come and go on your own, whether by car, bus or bike. Nobody needs to pick you up or take you home.
  • Only share your address and number once you feel safe.

At the table

  • Be on time and friendly, to the staff too. It gets noticed more than you'd think.
  • Put your phone away or on silent.
  • Be curious, ask questions and listen.
  • You don't have to be perfect, just be honest.
  • Exes, politics and salary can happily take a back seat tonight.
  • Alcohol in moderation. You'll want to remember the evening tomorrow.
  • The bill: paying separately is completely fine. If you'd like to pay for both of you, that's a lovely gesture.

Things you could ask

To warm up

Have you been here before?

What was the best part of your week?

Are you from here, or what brought you to the area?

Everyday life and free time

What does a really good Sunday look like for you?

What could you spend hours on without looking at the clock?

What's your favourite spot on the Weser?

A bit deeper

What have you been proud of lately?

What do you really want to try in the next few years?

What always makes you laugh?

You're free to go

The table is firmly reserved for you, but nobody is forced into anything. If you don't feel comfortable, you can end the date at any time.

“I'm going now, thanks for the evening.” That's enough.

You can also talk to the staff at any time. If something wasn't right, tell us. We read every report.

Afterwards

Shortly after the date we email you to ask how it went. In your account you give a few hearts and say whether you'd like to see your date again. We only swap numbers if you both say yes.
